A fool’s errand…stinkin’ thinkin’… Sometimes ideas are bad from the start. Other times, our actions drift far from their original designs. But what happens when a group of Redditors from disparate locations (but with like minded ideas about history, discovery, research, preservation, and telling a good story) decide to collaborate? You guess it. The Windmill Research Collective.
We may not be able to accompany each other while interviewing a landowner, helping plot out the former site of a homestead, or sifting a partner’s outhouse diggings. But when it comes time to research, crunch the data, or simply offer a sounding board for a fresh perspective, let the crowdsourcing begin.
As much as we love history, we don’t oppose progress. We just want the opportunity to rescue and preserve artifacts and the stories they contain before they are potentially lost for eternity under asphalt, concrete, or a building.
Oh, and speaking of tilting at windmills, one of us really does have a passion for windmills!
